Bulbs

HOME...ANNUALS...DECIDUOUS...HOSTAS..EVERGREENS...PERENNIALS

The bulb plants in the layout are everywhere. There are Tulips, Narcissus, Crocus, Miniature Iris (tuber), Scilla, Muscari and many more. We try to divide them every other year if possible. A key to the bulbs is to buy “lots” of them and plant in large groups. The burst of color throughout the layout in the spring is well worth it. One key planting tip is to keep them away from the tracks because the leaves will overtake the area. This is important because the leaves on bulb plants should never be removed until they yellow or brown out. They are what supplies the nutrients for next season's flowers. Our bulb plants are given fertilizer just as their leaves emerge in the spring. We're always experimenting with new bulbs as you can see by the photos.
